I’m privy to many a private mailing list. Occasionally I get jokes, pictures, save-the-whales chain-letters, you know. The normal kind of mail that gets forwarded from one person to another – pointless, but usually semi-worth the the minute of your life wasted on reading it. Then I get things like the following. Things that makes you think and wonder how things have gotten the way they are. What went wrong? Why isn’t anybody doing anything about it? Read it in it’s brief entirety. Does this trouble anyone else but me?

“If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.”
James Madison (1751-1836), 4th U.S. President and author of the U.S. Constitution

“When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying the cross.”
Sinclair Lewis, (It Can’t Happen Here, 1935)

“Unhappy events abroad have retaught us two simple truths about the liberty of a democratic people. The first truth is that the liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth of a private power to a point where it becomes stronger than the democratic state itself. That, in its essence, is fascism – ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power.”
Franklin D. Roosevelt (1882-1945), 32nd US President

“…An empire is a despotism, and an emperor is a despot, bound by no law or limitation but his own will; it is a stretch of tyranny beyond absolute monarchy. For, although the will of an absolute monarch is law, yet his edicts must be registered by parliaments. Even this formality is not necessary in an empire.”
John Adams (1735-1826), 2nd American President

“I’m the commander in chief, see, I don’t need to explain, I do not need to explain why I say things. That’s the interesting part about being president. Maybe somebody needs to explain to me why they say something, but I don’t feel like I owe anybody an explanation.”
George W. Bush, quoted in Bob Woodward’s book ‘Bush at War’

Do you hear that? That’s the sound of our founding fathers collectively rolling in their graves.

Don’t get me started cause I’ll go on forever. Bush is an “elected” official. Elected govern our country. That doesn’t make him untouchable, unaccountable, or some Ruler that needs not explain to his underlings. What a fucking retard. Well, maybe not. The government has done such a good job of fibbing to the American people, that they now feel it’s ok to make statements like this. Pass personal agendas off as legislature and the voice of the people. Bullshit. That family is sooo deep in oil money that they have to unfold their wallets to breath. Here’s my contribution to this thread…this is sooo scary: Eisenhower’s farewell address to the nation..http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article5407.htm
you can read it in it’s entirety at that link or watch a more relevant clip on youtube here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qdrGKwkmxAU

So Bush swims in oil money and Mr VP Dick comes from the MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX. It’s soo scary. Has democracy slowly, through some evil…selfish…. governmental mitosis, become fascism??

so…? what are WE going to do about it???

WE are the people, you and i and every other particular, individual persons: we are, collectively, the people.

i ask myself why i do nothing more than read and post online comments about the state of this, my country. because there is no where else to go, i say. no street protests, no 60s-style revolt.

while the “information super-highway” is abuzz, the asphalt streets of America are empty. will anything ever change unless you and i and the people put foot to pavement, word to deed?

it is time to take action.

Unfortunately, the sheep that has become the majority of the United States Citizenry (No insult intended, I partially include myself in this generalization) won’t do that [revolt]… not yet anyway. It’s [the ridiculousness that is our current government] not affecting them on a :really: personal level yet. It’s still just something you “hear about” on the news, far far away.

The question is, when it does come into our homes, and to our jobs, and into our personal lives, …. what then? When the men in black (Not the Will Smith kind) come knockin on the door, and take Billy to an undisclosed location for an unspecified amount of time, for why?… reason? They don’t need a reason! What then? Will we continue to sit on our butts and watch? (Sad part is, it doesn’t seem so far off)

Anyhow, even if you’re not the riot and revolt, bra-burning type, there is still something you can do. Talk to friends, family members. Be heard. Most people are still clueless about what’s really going on. But mostly importantly, get involved. Contact your local congressman/woman and tell them what you think. They’re there for YOU, (supposedly). They represent YOU. If YOU don’t tell them how you feel, then who will?

Ok! With that being said, I’m going to bed. :)

What are we going to do about it, some of you ask. I say we go with BethKaya and get a lot of guns and bombs and start a revolution. Let’s put the second amendment to use for the same exact thing it was intended for.
